When should I switch to the electric guitar?

If you have been playing for about a year on the acoustic and mastered the basic chords ie C, G, Am, Em, Dm,A, E ,D, you should find the electric guitar a joy. You could just start with the electric guitar from scratch but your fingers will be stronger after practicing on the acoustic .
